MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621056440 A) filed by Mohite Vikram Narayan on May 04, 2026, for Canopy - (critical-Node Autonomous Nitrogen Overpressure Protection System) - Localized Pressure- Maintained Hydrocarbon Leak Mitigation System For Critical Hydrocarbon Leak-Prone Nodes.

Inventor includes Mohite Vikram Narayan.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A localized hydrocarbon leak mitigation system for pre-identified critical hydrocarbon leak-prone nodes in hydrocarbon processing, storage, transmission, or transfer systems is disclosed. The invention utilizes a localized enclosure positioned around or proximate to a selected leak-prone node and maintained under positive inert gas pressure relative to ambient conditions, thereby substantially minimizing atmospheric air ingress under defined operating conditions. One or more sensing and control systems monitor protective- state variables including pressure, hydrocarbon concentration, or oxygen concentration, and regulate inert replenishment, conditional vapor extraction, routing, transfer, or protective isolation while prioritizing pressure continuity. In certain embodiments, the enclosure may tolerate bounded leakage provided positive inert pressure is maintained and may be independently supported from parent piping to reduce mechanical disturbance effects. By applying localized positive-pressure inerting philosophy as a pre-escalation protective layer, the invention reduces ignition probability and extends operational response time during credible hydrocarbon leak scenarios at selectively deployed critical nodes.
