Abstract: A cancellous cannulated screw assembly (300) including a cancellous cannulated screw (100) having a screw head (108) at a proximal end, a cancellous bone thread (112) on an outer surface, a self-tapping distal tip (114) at a distal end, and a central cannulation (104) extending along a longitudinal axis L1. The central cannulation (104) includes an internal female thread (106) within a proximal section thereof. The cancellous cannulated screw assembly (300) further includes a threaded reinforcement wire (200) having a male thread (204) configured to be received within the central cannulation (104). The male thread (204) engages with the internal female thread (106) via a thread-locking engagement such that the threaded reinforcement wire (200) fills the central cannulation (104) to form a reinforced solid-core configuration that resists bending and torsional forces.
