Abstract: The present invention relates to a camera-based sign language recognition and regional language translation system designed to facilitate communication between sign- language users and non-signers. The system captures hand gestures using a camera and processes the visual input to recognize gestures without the use of wearable or body-mounted sensors. Gesture recognition is performed using a pattern registration and matching mechanism based on limited user demonstrations, thereby avoiding reliance on extensive pre-collected datasets or complex training procedures. Upon recognition, the identified gesture is translated into regional language output in the form of text or speech and delivered through an output interface. The invention provides a simple, real-time, and practical assistive communication solution suitable for everyday use.
