Abstract: Provided is a button attachment mechanism that can suppress wear of holding portions, attachment portion, button member, and the like, while maintaining holding force against the button member in an initial state. The present invention relates to a button attachment mechanism (10) for attaching a button member (1) to a fabric (f). The button attachment mechanism (10) includes: a pair of first holding portions (20) configured to hold the button member (1) between them, the pair of first holding portions (20) being displaceable in a closing direction to hold the button member (1) and in an opening direction to release the button member (1); a first elastic member (29) for urging the first holding portions (20) toward the closing direction; an urging additive portion (30) configured to urge the first holding portions (20) toward the closing direction, in addition to urging the first holding portions (20) by the first elastic member (29) toward the closing direction; and a moving portion (40) for moving the button member (1) to an attachment position for the fabric (f). The moving portion (40) releases or reduces the urging of the first holding portions (20) by the urging additive portion (30) during movement to the attachment position, and displaces the first holding portions (20) with the urging released or reduced by the urging additive portion (30) toward the opening direction.
