Abstract: ABSTRACT This invention discloses a novel pre-filled local anesthetic cartridge " the Buff Cartridge " designed to deliver a pre-buffered local anesthetic solution through a unique dual-chamber configuration. The standard dental or medical local anesthetic cartridge (1.8 ml) is modified to contain 1.8 ml of local anesthetic solution in the primary chamber and 0.2 ml of 8.4% sodium bicarbonate in a secondary terminal chamber, physically separated by a thin non-permeable biocom patible membrane. The membrane is designed to rupture upon axial compression of the cartridge, analogous to the activation mechanism of conventional amalgam capsules or encapsulated mixing systems. Upon compression, the sodium bicarbonate solution combines with the local anesthetic at a clinically validated 1:10 dilution ratio, raising the solution pH from its native acidic range (approximately pH 3.5-4.5) toward physiologic pH (approximately 7.4). This buffering action reduces the concentration of the protonated, ionized form of the anesthetic molecule, increasing the proportion of the membrane-permeable, uncharged free base form, which facilitates more rapid nerve membrane penetration and anesthetic onset. The device eliminates the need for separate buffering kits, external mixing chambers, or compounding at chairside, thereby streamlining workflow, maintaining sterility, and ensuring consistent drug concentration and buffer ratios. This invention represents a significant advancement in minimally invasive, pain-reduced injection anesthesia for dental, oral surgical, and medical settings
