The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: BuckleBuddy is a two-part wearable tethering and seated-support system for a child pillion rider on a two-wheeler. The system comprises a breathable wearable vest fitted about the child and connectable through a tether to an adult rider, and a detachable semi-rigid seat support releasably coupled to the vest. The vest includes adjustable shoulder restraint portions, a chest closure, an adjustable waist restraint portion, a rider-tether interface, and spaced coupling locations. The seat support comprises a moulded foam body defining a seating region and opposing lateral support regions. A fibre-reinforced plastic mesh is embedded within the foam body and extends through the seating region and lateral support regions. The foam distributes the child's load and absorbs energy by compression, while the embedded mesh transfers tensile and shear loads and resists excessive deformation. The detachable construction permits cleaning, storage, replacement, and optional independent use of the wearable vest. Figure 1 illustrates the layered breathable vest construction and rear ventilation region.
