The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The titled invention relates to a dual-mode luminescent material comprising Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped BiOCI nanosheets that exhibit both upconversion (UC) and downconversion (DC) photoluminescence. The material is synthesized via a hydrothermal-assisted method, forming flower-like nanostructures with high crystallinity. Under 980 nm excitation, the material emits visible green and red light through energy transfer from Yb3+ to Er3+ ions (UC), while 385 nm excitation induces visible emission via UV-to-visible downconversion. The phosphor is embedded into a polymer resin to fabricate a transparent luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) slab. The device demonstrates broadband spectral harvesting from UV to NIR and emission in the visible range, enhancing solar energy conversion efficiency. The invention offers a scalable approach for spectral conversion materials used in building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), smart solar windows, and photonic energy applications. Figure -1
