MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541029208 A) filed by Ather Energy Limited on March 27, 2025, for Brake Pad Wear Detection System For Wire-Actuated Brakes Of A Vehicle.

Inventor includes Joseph, Anooj.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a brake pad wear detection system (100) for wire-actuated brakes of a vehicle (400). The system (100) includes a wire coupling unit (102), a mechanical joint (122), a displacement sensor (108), a signal processing unit (118) and an indicator. The wire coupling unit (102) is positioned between a primary brake wire (104) connecting towards a brake lever (124) of the vehicle (400) and a secondary brake wire (106) connecting towards a brake pad (126) and a housing of the vehicle (400). The mechanical joint (122) is housed to facilitate displacement when the brake lever (124) is actuated and incorporates a screw-mount mechanism for brake-tightening adjustments. The displacement sensor (108) measures brake wire movement. A mechanical-actuated switch (112) is included to trigger alerts based on a pre-defined threshold limit of displacement. The signal processing unit (118) analyzes displacement data to determine brake pad wear and communicates alerts.
