MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641095327 A) filed by Vardhaman College Of Engineering on August 06, 2026, for Brain-Computer Interface Controlled Smart Environments Using Eeg Signal Decoding And Edge Ai.

Inventors include Mr. Naresh Goud M; Ms. Shalini K; Dr. Jagini Naga Padmaja; Mr. M Raghavendra; Dr. Karnati Ramesh; and Dr. Raghavendra Gowda D.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: Brain-Computer Interface Controlled Smart Environments Using EEG Signal Decoding and Edge AI is the proposed invention. The invention incorporates multi- channel EEG acquisition, adaptive signal pre-processing, transformer-based neural decoding, edge computing, digital twin technology, reinforcement learning-based personalisation and secure IoT orchestration to decode user intentions directly from brain activity. We developed a decoding engine based on transformer and deployed it on an edge AI processor . The engine takes as input pre-processed EEG signals and identifies cognitive commands with high accuracy, while maintaining user privacy by local processing. The adaptive learning module continuously adapts the decoding model to the individual’s neural characteristics, reducing the need for calibration and improving long-term performance. Safe communication and decentralised device authentication and ongoing cybersecurity monitoring safeguard the connected environment against unauthorised access and malicious activities.
