Abstract: The present disclosure provides a connecting assembly (110, 210) for a braced frame structural system (100) having a beam (102) and a column (104) connected to form 5 a structural joint. The connecting assembly (110, 210) includes a gusset plate (114, 214) couplable to the beam (102) and/or column (104), a first connecting plate (120) insertable in the gusset plate (114, 214), and a second connecting plate (126) couplable with the first connecting plate (120) over the gusset plate (114, 214). The second connecting plate comprises one or more notched regions (132) and is connectable to a brace (108) that 10 deforms in-plane upon external application of lateral load. The connecting assembly (110, 210) includes reinforcing plates (232) to resist external loads and premature failure.
