Abstract: Blockchain-IPFS Integration for Secure and Verifiable Document Management Abstract The rapid digital transformation of government, enterprise, healthcare, legal, financial, and educational sectors has significantly increased the need for secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant document management systems. Conventional centralized document storage solutions are vulnerable to unauthorized modification, data breaches, single points of failure, and limited auditability, making them unsuitable for managing sensitive digital records. To address these challenges, this invention proposes a Blockchain-IPFS Integration for Secure and Verifiable Document Management, a decentralized framework that combines blockchain technology, the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), cryptographic security, and artificial intelligence to provide immutable, efficient, and verifiable document lifecycle management. The proposed system stores encrypted documents in the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), while blockchain maintains immutable records of document hashes, timestamps, ownership information, access permissions, and version histories. This hybrid architecture ensures document integrity, prevents unauthorized modification, enables decentralized storage, and eliminates dependence on a single centralized repository. Smart contracts automate document registration, authentication, sharing permissions, ownership transfer, digital signature verification, audit logging, and compliance enforcement without requiring trusted intermediaries. The framework incorporates advanced cryptographic mechanisms, including public-key encryption, digital signatures, secure hash algorithms, attribute-based access control, and multi-factor authentication to ensure confidentiality and controlled access to sensitive information. Artificial Intelligence algorithms continuously analyze user behavior, access logs, and transaction patterns to detect anomalous activities, unauthorized access attempts, and potential security threats. A Large Language Model (LLM)-based intelligent document assistant interprets document metadata, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements to generate explainable audit reports, compliance summaries, document classifications, retrieval assistance, and governance recommendations in natural language. Cloud-edge integration supports scalable deployment across distributed environments while maintaining high availability, efficient content retrieval, and low-latency access to documents. The framework enables secure document sharing among multiple organizations through permissioned blockchain networks and privacy-preserving protocols while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational governance policies. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that the proposed Blockchain-IPFS framework significantly improves document integrity, transparency, availability, auditability, and storage efficiency compared with conventional centralized document management systems. By integrating decentralized blockchain technology, IPFS-based distributed storage, AI-driven security analytics, and explainable LLM-assisted governance within a unified architecture, the proposed invention provides a robust, scalable, and trustworthy solution for secure digital document management across government, healthcare, finance, education, legal services, and enterprise ecosystems.
