The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT [0014] The present invention relates to a blockchain-enabled secure multi-modal biometric authentication system with integrated liveness detection specifically adapted for metaverse environments. The system captures and fuses multiple biometric modalities including facial features, iris patterns, voice characteristics, and gait dynamics from a user interacting through immersive devices such as head-mounted displays and motion sensors. Liveness detection modules analyze micro-movements, physiological responses, and challenge-response interactions to confirm the presence of a living individual and reject presentation attacks. Extracted features are transformed into irreversible templates that are encrypted and recorded on a distributed ledger using smart contracts, ensuring decentralized storage, immutability, and user-controlled access without centralized repositories of raw biometric data. Authentication proceeds through multi-modal score fusion, real-time liveness verification, and blockchain consensus validation before granting access to virtual spaces, digital assets, or avatar interactions. The system improves resistance to spoofing, reduces single-point-of-failure risks, and supports continuous or on-demand identity confirmation within persistent virtual worlds while preserving privacy through selective disclosure and zero-knowledge principles where applicable.
