MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099404 A) filed by R. M. K. Engineering College on August 18, 2026, for Blockchain-Based Supply Chain Traceability And Product Authentication System.

Inventor includes Dr. V. R. Kavitha.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a blockchain-based supply chain traceability and product authentication system for securely tracking products throughout manufacturing, transportation, storage, distribution, retail, and end-user verification. The system comprises a product registration module, unique product identity generation module, participant authentication module, transaction capture module, smart contract module, blockchain network, traceability database, product authentication module, and user interface. A unique digital identity is generated for each product and associated with a QR code, barcode, RFID tag, NFC tag, or other machine- readable credential. Authenticated supply chain participants record manufacturing, ownership, transportation, storage, distribution, and verification events. Smart contracts validate participant authorization and transaction sequence before validated events are stored on the blockchain. An optional IoT module captures environmental and location parameters. During authentication, the product identity is scanned and compared with blockchain records to identify genuine, invalid, duplicated, counterfeit, altered, or inconsistent products. The invention improves traceability, transparency, accountability, data integrity, and counterfeit detection across diverse supply chain applications.
