Abstract: The present invention relates to a blockchain-based secure medical record sharing and authentication system configured to enable secure, tamper-evident, privacy-preserving, and controlled exchange of electronic medical records among authorized patients, healthcare providers, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacies, insurance entities, and other permitted healthcare stakeholders. The system comprises a distributed blockchain network, patient and healthcare-provider identity authentication modules, medical record encryption modules, access-control mechanisms, cryptographic key management components, and secure off-chain medical data storage. Medical records generated from electronic health record systems, diagnostic devices, laboratory systems, imaging systems, prescriptions, and other healthcare sources are encrypted before storage, while cryptographic hashes, metadata, access permissions, transaction identifiers, and integrity references are recorded on the blockchain. The blockchain provides an immutable and auditable record of creation, modification, authorization, sharing, and access events without requiring sensitive medical content to be stored directly on-chain. A patient-centric consent management module enables a patient or authorized representative to grant, modify, restrict, or revoke access permissions according to predefined users, healthcare organizations, record categories, purposes, and time periods. Smart contracts automatically validate access requests against registered permissions and execute authorized data-sharing transactions. Multi-factor authentication, digital signatures, role-based and attribute-based access control, and cryptographic verification mechanisms provide additional protection against unauthorized access and identity fraud. The system further provides integrity verification by comparing a hash generated from retrieved medical data with a blockchain-recorded hash. Notifications and audit trails enable users to monitor access activities. Accordingly, the invention provides a distributed, interoperable, and secure framework for trustworthy medical record exchange while improving patient control, data integrity, accountability, authentication, and healthcare information accessibility.
