MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621082751 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on July 03, 2026, for Blockchain-Based Decentralised Identity And Access Management System For Iot Device Authentication.
Inventors include Dr. N. A. Natraj; and Dr. Madhavi Damle.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT BLOCKCHAIN-BASED DECENTRALISED IDENTITY AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR IoT DEVICE AUTHENTICATION A blockchain-based decentralised identity and access management system (100) for IoT device authentication in enterprise networks. The system (100) comprises a permissioned blockchain layer (110) storing device identity records and access policies, a smart contract IAM engine (120) verifying device identity and enforcing access policies at each authentication request without centralised server dependency, an automated credential rotation module (140) executing smart contracts to update device credentials on a configurable schedule, a device revocation mechanism (150) updating on-chain access policy records without firmware modification, and an immutable audit trail module (160) recording all authentication events and policy changes. The invention eliminates centralised identity server single points of failure while maintaining authentication capability during partial network partitions. [
