MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617096751 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation on August 11, 2026, for Blast Furnace Operation Method.

Inventors include Inagaki Yusuke; Nakano Kaoru; and Sakai Hiroshi.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: This blast furnace operation method comprises, in relation to an operation in which a hydrogen-based reducing gas blown into the furnace is increased from a first blowing-in amount: a first step for determining a target blowing-in amount TA of the hydrogen-based reducing gas to be increased; a second step for preliminarily calculating each of the pulverized coal ratio, the air blowing amount, and the oxygen enrichment amount at which it is possible to maintain a constant molten iron tapping amount, a constant molten iron temperature, and a constant furnace top exhaust gas temperature and/or tuyere tip combustion temperature between before the hydrogen-based reducing gas starts to be increased so as to reach the target blowing-in amount TA and after the target blowing-in amount TA is reached; and a third step for starting operation at the pulverized coal ratio, the air blowing amount, and the oxygen enrichment amount calculated in the second step, when starting the blowing-in of the hydrogen-based reducing gas so as to reach the target blowing-in amount TA.
