The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel tooth-adhering sustained-release intraoral patch for enamel remineralization comprising nano-hydroxyapatite and Punica granatum peel extract dispersed within a mucoadhesive polymeric matrix. The patch consists primarily of sodium alginate, cellulose polymer, nano-hydroxyapatite, pomegranate peel extract, glycerol, and purified water. Nano-hydroxyapatite serves as-a-biomimetic mineral source-capable of replenishing-lost-enamel minerals,-while pomegranate peel extract provides antioxidant, antimicrobial, and bioactive polyphenolic compounds that support oral health and inhibit cariogenic microorganisms. The patch adheres directly to tooth surfaces and gradually releases active ingredients over an extended period, thereby maximizing therapeutic contact time and enhancing remineralization efficacy. The invention is particularly suitable for pediatric patients due to its non-invasive nature, ease of application, and sustained-release mechanism. The patch offers a novel alternative to conventional gels, varnishes, and mouth rinses by providing targeted delivery and prolonged retention of remineralizing agents.
