Abstract: I he present invention discloses a biopolymeric spray formulation designated as C-PWH-DM developed for chronic wound management in diabetes. The formulation comprises an aqueous leaf extract of Ageratuni conyzoides integrated into a chitosan-alginate polyelectrolyte complex along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing and viscosity-modifying agents. The ionic interaction between chitosan and alginate results in formation of a structured biopolymeric network capable of sustained and localized release of plant-derived bioactive constituents. The developed spray demonstrates antioxidant activity, antimicrobial efficacy against wound- associated pathogens, and cytocompatibility with mammalian skin cell lines under in vitro conditions. The spray system ensures uniform wound coverage, supports moisture retention, and promotes cellular migration in vitro. The invention provides a stable and scalable therapeutic platform suitable for chronic diabetic wound management.
