The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable glove-based system for recognising Indian Sign Language (ISL) gestures in real time. The system comprises a stretchable, biocompatible base glove (101), over which is disposed a joint sensing element array (102) of biomaterial-based, strain-responsive elements positioned at the finger joints, knuckles and thumb base, each generating a signal proportional to joint flexion. A wrist electronics module (103), carrying an accelerometer and gyroscope, tracks hand orientation and motion. A signal conditioning and feature extraction unit (104) combines the flexion and motion data into a feature set, which a gesture classification engine (105) matches against a trained ISL gesture database. An output module (106) then renders the recognised gesture through a text output block (107) and an audio output block (108), producing simultaneous text and speech output in a user-selected language, including English and Hindi.
