Abstract: ABSTRACT [0029] Traditional medicinal systems like Ayurveda have long utilized plant-based remedies for infections and inflammatory disorders. Mussaenda erythrophylla (Rubiaceae), though primarily known as an ornamental plant, possesses significant traditional therapeutic value. This study evaluated the in-vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant potential of the hydro-alcoholic leaf extract of M. erythrophylla. Phytochemical screening was conducted, and antimicrobial efficacy was tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans using agar well and disc diffusion methods. Antioxidant capacity was measured via DPPH and hydrogen peroxide scavenging assays. The extract contained key phytoconstituents, including flavonoids and phenolics demonstrated measurable zones of inhibition against all tested pathogens. It also exhibited significant free radical scavenging activity. The findings validate the traditional use of M. erythrophylla as a source of natural antimicrobial and antioxidant agents, warranting further pharmacological and toxicological exploration.
