MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631000329 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Jamshedpur on January 02, 2026, for Bioinspired Solar Array Powered Field Welding System.
Inventors include Dr. Mayuri Baruah; Prof. Sanjay; Dr. Namrata Kumari; Dr. Susmita Datta; Dr. Vineet Sahoo; and Dr. Biswajit Mandal.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: A portable bioinspired solar array powered field welding system includes a main housing (1) on wheels (2) containing a battery pack (3) and an inverter and MPPT charge controller unit (4), welding output terminals (5), and auxiliary AC/USB ports (6). A foldable solar array of petal-like monocrystalline photovoltaic panels (7) is coupled to the housing (1) by a hinge mechanism (8) and deploys into a water-lily-inspired configuration to supply power through the MPPT unit (4) to the battery pack (3) and inverter for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and MIG welding in off-grid environments. A control/display panel (9) provides system status and optional app-based monitoring, enabling replacement of diesel generators for remote welding with a compact, renewable-energy-powered solution.
