Abstract: Provided is a method in which palm oil mill effluent (POME) is used to produce a biofuel which contains a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) and from which impurities have been removed. Specifically provided is a biofuel production method including a methyl esterification step in which palm oil mill effluent (POME) is reacted with an acid catalyst and methanol, and then reacted with a base catalyst and methanol to produce a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME).
