MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611021166 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu on February 23, 2026, for Biofabrication System With Integrated Crosslinker Concentration Control For Forming Mesh Structures.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a biofabrication system (100) for forming mesh structures (102). The system (100) includes a plunger- based extrusion unit (104) including a plunger (105) coupled to a lead screw (107) through a mechanical linkage (106) driven by a stepper motor (108) to dispense a bio ink (103) through a nozzle (206) into a crosslinking solution (101) of water-like viscosity held within a crosslinker containment chamber (110) positioned on a build platform (109). A CNC-based motion control unit (111) guides the nozzle (206) along multiple axes during deposition. A crosslinker concentration control system (300) including a concentrate chamber (301), a diluent chamber (302), and a control valve (303) regulates crosslinker concentration. Unlike conventional embedded bioprinting systems relying on yield-stress or gel-based support baths, the present system enables direct mesh strand crosslinking and stabilization without use of a support bath.
