Abstract: Abstract Bioengineered Chitosan-Ag0 Nanocomposite Hydrogel Embedded with Ocimum basilicum Extract for Diabetic Ulcer The present invention relates to a multifunctional nanocomposite hydrogel developed using chitosan, green-synthesized silver oxide nanoparticles, and Ocimum basilicum extract. The hydrogel is designed for enhanced antimicrobial and wound healing applications. Silver oxide nanoparticles are synthesized using plant extract as a reducing agent, providing an ecofriendly approach. The nanoparticles are incorporated into a chitosan matrix and crosslinked to form a stable hydrogel system. The formulation exhibits improved physicochemical properties, controlled swelling, and sustained release of bioactive compounds. The hydrogel demonstrates significant antimicrobial activity against common pathogens and promotes wound healing. This invention offers a cost-effective, biocompatible, and efficient solution for managing chronic wounds such as diabetic ulcers.
