MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621082828 A) filed by Biteguard Innovations Private Limited; and Kardam Jasvantrai Bhatt on July 06, 2026, for Biodegradable Sustained-Release Gel Based Formulation For Mosquito Attraction And Capture.

Inventor includes Kardam Jasvantrai Bhatt.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biodegradable mosquito attractant formulation in the form of a hydrated gel matrix and a compatible mosquito trapping device for effective mosquito attraction and capture. The formulation comprises an aqueous medium, a gelling agent, a moisture-retentive polymer, a biodegradable stabilizing agent, an ammonia-releasing compound, one or more human-odor mimicking organic compounds and a pH-adjusting agent. The formulation provides controlled and sustained release of attractant compounds including ammonia and organic acids, under tropical environmental conditions. The formulation is used in association with a mosquito attraction and capture device comprising carbon dioxide delivery and heating arrangements for enhancing mosquito attraction and dispersing attractant compounds released from the formulation into the surrounding environment. The formulation, when used with the device, forms an attractant plume that guides mosquitoes into a capture region, where they are retained without the use of chemical insecticides.
