MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106042 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 03, 2026, for Biodegradable Seeding Tray With Nutrient System.

Inventors include E. Christy Ramola; Dr. N. Senthilkumar; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: This invention introduces a biodegradable seedling tray that is specially made for nursery plants. The tray is created using natural materials such as coir pith, rice husk, bagasse pulp, biochar, vermicompost and neem cake, all held together with a starch-based binder. It can also include Trichoderma for added protection against diseases. What makes this tray useful is that it not only supports the seedling during its early growth but also provides nutrients on its own. After the seedlings are shifted into the soil, the tray slowly breaks down and enriches the soil around the roots. This reduces the need for plastic trays and supports healthier and more sustainable nursery practices.
