Abstract: ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is a composition (100) of a biodegradable pH-sensitive intelligent packaging film, the composition (100) comprises a natural pH- sensitive extract (102) capable of exhibiting visually detectable colour transition in response to spoilage-induced pH variation, a biodegradable polysaccharide (104) present in 1 wt.% to 10 wt.% of the total composition (100), wherein the biodegradable polysaccharide (104) provides biodegradability and matrix support to the intelligent packaging film, a film-forming polymer (106) present in 1 wt.% to 10 wt.% of the total composition (100), wherein the film-forming polymer (106) provides film-forming characteristics, mechanical strength and structural stability of the intelligent packaging film, a plasticizing agent (108) present in 10 wt.% to 40 wt.% based on total polymer weight, wherein the plasticizing agent (108) improves flexibility and handling characteristics of the intelligent packaging film, an aqueous medium (110) capable of facilitating dispersion and preparation of a film-forming composition.
