Abstract: This invention introduces a novel approach to creating biodegradable, microwave-safe food containers utilizing a combination of natural and biodegradable materials. The formulation involves using starch derived from corn, potato, or tapioca as a polymer base, supplemented by glycerol or sorbitol as plasticizers to enhance flexibility. Natural fibers sourced from banana pseudostem, orange peels, and pineapple peels act as reinforcements, providing improved strength and durability. Sodium alginate or agar-agar is incorporated as a binder, while the optional addition of chitosan offers antimicrobial properties. To ensure heat resistance and microwave safety, polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is included, and a final coating of food-grade wax or shellac increases water resistance. This composition results in a durable, eco-friendly container suitable for various food packaging applications, addressing the need for sustainable, non-toxic, and heat-resistant packaging solutions.
