MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611093870 A) filed by Dr. Pankaj Agrawal on August 03, 2026, for Biodegradable Chitosan-Based Composite Fiber And Multi-Layered Thermal Wearable Textile For Extreme Cold Environments.

Inventor includes Dr. Pankaj Agrawal.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-layered biodegradable thermal wearable textile system (100) for extreme cold environments. The system comprises a chitosan- based composite yarn (110) formed by wet-spinning a dope of chitosan filament (111) and polyvinyl alcohol co-polymer filament (112) stabilized by a cross-linker matrix (113), optionally incorporating a silver nanoparticle dispersion (114). The composite yarn (110) is assembled with hollow synthetic fibers and a natural blend fiber into an inner skin-contact layer (120), an intermediate thermal insulation layer (130) and an outer protective layer (140), further finished with a thermal stabilizer coating (150). A manufacturing apparatus (200) comprising a spinneret (220), a coagulation bath (230), an electrospinning module (270) and a knitting and weaving unit (280) produces the system under programmable logic control. The resulting ergonomic garment article (300) delivers sub-zero thermal insulation, durable antimicrobial performance, moisture management and biodegradability.
