Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a biodegradable biofilm and a method for preparing the same. The biofilm comprises a natural biopolymer, a reinforcing polymer, and a plasticizer, wherein the biofilm exhibits a thickness ranging from 0.4 mm to 0.8 mm, a tensile strength ranging from 0.2 to 0.9 MPa, an elongation at break ranging from 30% to 90%, and a moisture content ranging from 18% to 80%. The present disclosure further provides a method for preparing the biodegradable biofilm comprising dissolving the natural biopolymer in water, adding a reinforcing polymer to form a polymer blend, incorporating a plasticizer to obtain a film-forming mixture, casting the mixture onto a surface, and drying the same to obtain the biofilm. The resulting biofilm exhibits improved mechanical strength, flexibility, and moisture resistance, making it suitable for food packaging applications. The present disclosure provides an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to conventional plastic films.
