Inventors include Sriganesh M; Logavarsshini A; Aruna P; Vishnuvardhanan N; and Dr, J Bindhu.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Abstract The present invention relates to a zinc(TI)-iiTimobihzed electrospun nanofiber composite designed for controlled ion release and enhanced cutaneous wound healing applications. The invention provides a biocompatible nanofibrous scaffold prepared using biodegradable polymers such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), chitosan, or polycaprolactone (PCL), integrated with zinc ions and bioactive phytochemicalmediated copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles synthesized using Punica granatum peel. The developed scaffold exhibits sustained zinc ion release, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant potential, moisture retention capability, and enhanced fibroblast proliferation. The invention further describes fabrication through electrospinning, physicochemical characterization, controlled release studies, biological evaluation, and in-vivo wound healing validation. The developed composite promotes accelerated wound closure, collagen deposition, angiogenesis, and tissue regeneration while maintaining biocompatibility.M
