Inventors include Dr. Madhu C. Divakar; Mr. Aravinth Gunasekaran; Mr. Hariharasudhan Kumaravel; Ms. Kavya Rangasamy; and Mr. Vimalraj Rajan Ilayarasan.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: [059] The present invention discloses a bioactive wound dressing composition and preparation process based on a processed Cocos nucifera leaf petiole lignocellulosic matrix (CnP-LCM). The matrix provides a fibrous wound-contact scaffold and comprises or carries polyphenolic phytochemical fractions containing one or more markers selected from gallic acid, epicatechin and quercetin. A tannin-rich fraction may be obtained using a water:ethanol solvent of about 80:20, while a flavonoid-rich fraction may be obtained using about 50:50 water:ethanol. The matrix may be lipid-reduced, dried, size-controlled and combined with one or both concentrated fractions to provide a powder, pad, patch, sheet or composite wound-contact article. Chromatographic marker analysis may be used for batch standardisation, and absorbency, clotting-time performance, cytocompatibility and cell-migration activity may be used as functional quality parameters. The integrated material provides rapid liquid interaction, fibrous physical support and locally available polyphenolic constituents in a renewable wound-dressing platform.
