Abstract: A bio-safety control system (100) for an elevator may include a multi-modal sensing unit (102) disposed within or in proximity to an elevator cabin (100A) to capture real-time sensing data, the sensing data may include temperature variations associated with one or more occupants (202) and visual data for extracting occupant-related features. A volumetric occupancy sensing unit (104) detects static occupancy and dynamic movement within the cabin (100A). At least one sanitization unit (108) may perform radiation-based and/or aerosol-based disinfection. A controller (106), including one or more processors (106A) and memory (106B), operatively coupled to the sensing units (102 and 104) and sanitization unit (108) to receive multi-modal sensing data and occupancy data, extract and analyze occupant-related features to determine a contamination risk level, generate a contact interaction map, verify cabin vacancy, identify target surfaces, and selectively actuate the sanitization unit (108) to disinfect the identified surfaces upon cabin (100A) vacancy.
