Abstract: ABSTRACT BIO-LUBRICANT ENGINE OIL BLENDS WITH SURFACE-MODIFIED GRAPHENE NANOPLATELETS FOR AUTOMOTIVE AND MARINE ENGINE APPLICATIONS A lubricant composition and method for automotive and marine engines are disclosed. A pentaerythritol ester bio-lubricant synthesized from vegetable seed oil is blended with commercial mineral engine oil at 10-30 vol.% to form a bio-based engine oil blend. Surface-modified graphene nanoplatelets are prepared using surfactant-assisted treatment, dispersed into the blend at about 0.025-0.1 wt.% by sonication, and their dispersion stability is verified over at least two months. The resulting nano-engine oils exhibit reduced friction and wear and increased weld load and load-wear index in four-ball and pin-on-disc tribological tests while maintaining acceptable physicochemical properties within ASTM limits. To be accompanied with FIG. 2 (representative figure).
