MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541007828 A) filed by Jsp Enviro Private Limited on January 30, 2025, for Bio-Electrochemical System For Treating Wastewater And An Assembly Method Thereof.
Inventors include Fidal Kumar V T; and Priyadharshini Mani.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The disclosure herein generally relates wastewater treatment systems and more particularly, to a bio-electrochemical system and an assembly method thereof. The bio- electrochemical system (100) includes a plurality of bio-electrochemical anaerobic digester (BEADS) units (200) connected in any one of parallel and series configurations. Each BEADS unit includes a plurality of anodes (302) covered in electron-donating microbes, a plurality of cathodes (320) mounted on corresponding walls (202C, 202D) of a container (202) of the BEADS unit, a baffle assembly (400), and bio-media members (500). The BEADS unit is designed to increase the retention time of wastewater in the container to allow optimum contact between wastewater and microbes and generate electricity from anaerobic treatment of wastewater. The system and method provide ease in scalability, and assembly, reduce COD and BOD, energy positive, and improve efficiency in anaerobically treating wastewater. Fig. 3
