Abstract: The present invention relates to a bio-deinking process utilizing alkaliphilic cellulase-producing fungi for recycling waste paper, which involves isolating specific fungi from alkaline environments and culturing them in a medium containing Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and cellulose powder (CP) within a pH range of 7-11. The process includes producing cellulase enzymes from the cultured fungi and applying these enzymes to waste paper to catalyze the breakdown of cellulose into glucose, thereby facilitating ink removal from paper fibers. The resultant pulp is evaluated for brightness, tensile strength, bursting strength, and tearing strength according to TAPPI standards. The fungi are characterized and identified at the species level using molecular techniques involving the amplification of the 18S rRNA gene region with specific primers (ITS1 and ITS4). The specific fungi include Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus oryzae, Penicillium chrysogenum, and Mucor circinelloides.
