Abstract: Abstract: Electric vehicles (EVs) require highly efficient and reliable power conversion systems to manage energy flow between batteries, renewable energy sources, and traction motor drives. Conventional DC–DC boost converters, although widely used, often suffer from limited voltage gain and increased switching stress, especially when operating at high duty cycles. These limitations can reduce overall system efficiency and increase thermal losses, making them less suitable for advanced EV applications. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a bidirectional high-gain quadratic DC–DC converter integrated with a fuzzy logic–based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller. The quadratic converter topology significantly enhances the voltage conversion ratio without requiring bulky transformers or complex structures, thereby reducing system size, weight, and cost. Its bidirectional capability allows seamless power flow in both directions, enabling efficient energy transfer during vehicle propulsion as well as regenerative braking, where energy is recovered and stored back into the battery. Furthermore, the fuzzy logic MPPT controller intelligently adjusts the duty cycle based on real-time variations in voltage and current. This ensures maximum power extraction from renewable energy sources such as solar panels under dynamic environmental conditions. Unlike conventional MPPT techniques, fuzzy logic provides faster response, better stability, and improved adaptability. The proposed system is modeled and analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink simulations. Results indicate that the system achieves higher voltage gain, reduced switching stress, and improved overall efficiency compared to traditional converter designs. Hence, this approach offers a robust and effective solution for next-generation EV energy management and renewable energy integration.
