The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to benzothiazole-incorporated thiazolidin-4-one derivatives, processes for preparation thereof and antimicrobial compositions comprising the derivatives. A substituted 2-aminobenzothiazole intermediate is prepared and converted through an amino-phenyl-linked intermediate and a haloacetylated intermediate, followed by cyclization to form a thiazolidin-4-one moiety. The derivatives are characterized using chromatographic, thermal and spectroscopic techniques and are evaluated by molecular docking against DNA gyrase and Escherichia coli MurB. Drug-likeness, pharmacokinetic and toxicity characteristics may be predicted computationally. Antimicrobial activity is determined by in vitro antibacterial and antifungal assays including agar well diffusion, IC50 and minimum inhibitory concentration studies. The disclosed hybrid scaffold combines benzothiazole and thiazolidin-4-one pharmacophoric regions and provides derivatives useful as antimicrobial lead compounds, including compounds exhibiting activity against bacterial strains and fungi including Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans.
