Abstract: The BeeHale project is an innovative Edge ML-based solution designed to address the challenges of monitoring beehive health, detecting abnormal bee behaviour, and ensuring timely intervention. By leveraging on-device AI processing, the system continuously analyzes bee sounds captured from the hive, eliminating the need for constant cloud connectivity and reducing power consumption. Advanced audio autoencoder models learn the patterns of normal hive acoustics, allowing the system to identify anomalies in real-time through reconstruction error analysis. The system can be further enhanced with additional environmental sensors such as temperature, humidity, and hive weight to provide a multi-modal understanding of hive conditions. Upon detection of abnormal activity, BeeHale can alert beekeepers via Human- Machine Interfaces (HMI) like mobile applications or dashboards, enabling immediate decision-making. Scalable and adaptable, the system supports diverse hive setups and promotes sustainable beekeeping by preventing colony loss, optimizing hive management, and preserving ecological balance. With its autonomous, intelligent monitoring and predictive capabilities, BeeHale represents a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and future-ready solution for proactive apiculture management.
