Abstract: BEARING STEEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF The present invention relates to a bearing steel that may be used for high-temperature applications. The bearing steel comprises the following composition expressed in weight %: 0.8% - 1.2%, Manganese (Mn): 0.3% - 0.5%, Chromium (Cr): 0-1.35%, Silicon (Si): 0.25%-0.4%, Sulphur (S): 0.000% - 0.002%, Phosphorus (P): 0.00% - 0.02%, Vanadium (V): 0.3 - 0.5%, Molybdenum (Mo): 0.0 % - 0.15%, Aluminium (Al): 0.0 – 0.01%, Nitrogen (N): 0.00% – 0.01 %, and the remaining being iron and incidental impurities. The bearing steel comprises a microstructure of microstructure of 7 – 12% spheroid carbides, 0.2 - 8% retained austenite and 85 - 87.8% martensite. The bearing steel exhibits a hardness in the range of 700-730 Hv, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) 2300 - 2500 MPa, friction force in the range of 10 – 16 N, and coefficient of friction force: 4 - 6.
