A method may include receiving, from a network element , a configuration to report at least a new beam. The method may also include transmitting a report to the network element on the current beam, wherein the transmission of the report may be triggered by whether the new beam satisfies a condition of a triggering event. The method may further include receiving a request from the network element based on the report to switch from the current beam to the new beam. In addition, the method may include switching from the current beam to the new beam in response to the request.
