MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202644049962 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy on April 20, 2026, for Beam Failure Detection And Recovery.
Inventors include Song, Jian; Sayed Hassan, Mohamad; Liu, Bryan; Hmedoush, Iman; and Uzeda Garcia, Luis Guilherme.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments relate to an apparatus and a method. The method comprises: detecting a beam failure detection, BFD, prediction start condition related to a first radio access technology, RAT, cell that provides a serving beam; obtaining first radio resource management, RRM, measurement samples within a first observation window from the first RAT cell; obtaining second RRM measurement samples within a second observation window from a second RAT cell; using one or more trained machine learning models, predicting: a first BFD status for the serving beam within a first prediction window based on the first RRM measurement samples; and a second BFD status for a strongest beam of the second RAT cell within a second prediction window based on the second RRM measurement samples; triggering performing one or more early beam failure recovery, BFR, actions based on the first BFD status and/or the second BFD status; and sending a BFD prediction report to the first RAT cell and/or the second RAT cell after performing the one or more early BFR actions, wherein the BFD prediction report comprises the first BFD status and/or the second BFD status.
