Abstract: The present invention relates to a battery system for a transportation means, and the battery system comprises a secondary battery and a battery management device, wherein: the secondary battery includes a positive electrode including a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material, a separator, and an electrolyte, and the negative electrode active material includes a silicon- based active material and a carbon-based active material; and the battery management device comprises a diagnosis unit and a control unit, the diagnosis unit diagnoses a normal operation situation or an abnormal operation situation of the transportation means, and the control unit controls the battery system to charge and discharge the secondary battery in a first operation mode when the diagnosis unit diagnoses the normal operation situation, and to charge and discharge the secondary battery in a second operation mode when the diagnosis unit diagnoses the abnormal operation situation. The battery system for a transportation means according to the present invention, while having excellent lifespan performance, is capable of exhibiting high output for an extended period of time at diagnosis of an abnormal operation situation, thereby enabling stable stopping or easy emergency landing of the transportation means.
