MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126860 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on October 24, 2026, for Ballot Processing System And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Sankari M; Jai Vinita L; Raveena V; R Abinaya; Yuvan Aadheraj K; and Gursharath G V.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a ballot processing system (100) and method (500) comprising processor (102), memory (104), and plurality of anonymisation nodes (108) arranged in cascade. Each anonymisation node includes respective node processor (110), stores respective node key (112), and is independent of remaining anonymisation nodes. An encryption unit (114) encrypts candidate selection encoded as position vector and received within session established based on correspondence between live facial image and stored biometric encoding of a voter, under additively homomorphic encryption scheme, to produce ballot ciphertext. Each anonymisation node of cascade transforms and reorders received pool of ballot ciphertexts. An aggregation unit (116) combines ballot ciphertexts output by terminal anonymisation node into tally ciphertext. A decryption unit (118) reconstructs tally decryption key from subset of key shares reaching threshold count and decrypts tally ciphertext to produce plaintext tally. The encryption unit (114) executes at point of origin of candidate selection.
