Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION BALLAST-CONTROL SYSTEM FOR MANNED SUBMERSIBLE AND METHOD OF OPERATION THEREOF A ballast- control system (110) and method (600) of operation for manned submersible are provided. System (110) includes ballast-tank arrangement (BTA) (202) comprising ballast-tanks, pneumatic-arrangement (204) comprising compressed-air sources and a plurality of valves (208) to vent air from ballast-tanks to permit flooding of ballast-tanks with water, and to introduce compressed-air into ballast-tanks to expel water therefrom. System (110) includes sensor-arrangement (206) to generate sensor data representing operational-parameters BTA and pneumatic-arrangement, and processor (130) configured to implement digital-twin (130) of BTA and pneumatic-arrangement, comprising geometric-model of ballast-tank arrangement (224), pneumatic system model (226) representing components of pneumatic- arrangement, and experimentally derived process parameters for operation of ballast-control system, determine predicted-values of operational-parameters during descent and ascent operation, including prediction of descent-rate, time taken to flood ballast-tank arrangement for descent initiation, and freeboard attained at end of ascent operation. The measured values of operational-parameters from sensor-arrangement, compare predicted-values with measured values; and generate output.
