Abstract: ABSTRACT BAGASSE DUSTLESS CHALK The present invention discloses a Bagasse chalk which is an innovative, eco-friendly alternative to traditional chalk, developed using bagasse, the fibrous byproduct of sugarcane processing. As concerns over environmental sustainability and the health implications of conventional dust-producing chalk rise, bagasse chalk emerges as a solution that addresses both issues. Bagasse can be used to create dustless chalk, a sustainable and practical solution for various applications. The process involves collecting and drying bagasse, pulverizing it into a fine powder, and mixing it with binders like potato or corn starch, kaolin and bentonite clays. Then the mixture is then moulded into chalk sticks using moulds, and dried completely. A thin coating of dust-reducing material is also applied to the surface. The inclusion of natural clay not only acts as a binder but also enhances the strength, smoothness, and writing quality of the chalk, ensuring it glides effortlessly across various surfaces without producing excessive dust. The dustless bagasse chalk can be used in educational institutions, offices, homes, art studios, and public spaces.
