MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531133157 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Kharagpur on December 29, 2025, for Azetidine-Based Spirocyclic Scaffolds And Derivatives Comprising Diverse C3-Quaternary Aza- Azetidines And Indole-Azetidines And Their Process Of Manufacture.

Inventors include Subrata Hazra; and Santanu Panda.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: Azetidine-based spirocyclic scaffolds and derivatives comprising diverse C3-Quaternary Aza-azetidines and Indole-azetidines and their process of manufacture Azetidine-based spirocyclic scaffolds and derivatives have been provided comprising diverse C3-Quaternary Aza-azetidines and Indole-azetidines and their process of manufacture via C3- quaternary center via strain-release ring opening of benzoylated ABB (1-azabicyclo[1.1.0] butane) by employing neutrally nucleophilic N-heterocycles and aniline or its derivatives. Also said synthesized indole-azetidine and aza-azetidines enables access to diverse novel azetidine-based spirocyclic scaffolds, which have never been synthesized earlier. Also, starting from fluoroquinolinic acid, a ciprofloxacin derivative via nucleophilic substitution of the chlorine atom of fluoroquinolinic acid by an indole-azetidine derivative could be made possible.
