Abstract: Abstract Ayurvedic treatment for various ailments of Foot Disorders through invention of Parshini Dhara Yantra Need of invention Currently in Ayurveda, oil is applied through massage therapy for the treatment of painful foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, arthritis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, heel spurs, diabetic neuropathy, athlete's foot, dislocations, and others. Various types of localized treatments are employed in Ayurveda for managing foot disorders. Among them, Agnikarma is an invasive therapeutic procedure used for certain chronic and painful conditions. Other external therapies (Bahya Karma) include Raktavasechana (bloodletting), Abhyanga (therapeutic oil massage), Bandhana (bandaging), Unmardana (deep tissue massage), local Snehana (local oleation), and Nadi Sweda (localized steam therapy). These treatments are selected based on the nature of the disorder, the dosha involvement, and the chronicity of the condition, with the aim of reducing pain, inflammation, and improving mobility. Pada Dhara is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy that falls under Parisheka Swedana. The term "Dhara" refers to the continuous pouring of a liquid medium in a thin stream over a specific body part, while "Pada" means feet. Hence, Pada Dhara involves the continuous pouring of medicated oil over the feet. This unique procedure is classified as Snehayukta Swedana, as it integrates both Snehana (therapeutic oleation) and Swedana (sudation therapy). The treatment is designed to relieve pain and improve circulation in the feet, especially in conditions like plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and neuropathies. The medicated oil is poured for a duration equivalent to ten thousand Matra Kala, which translates to approximately 40-50 minutes per session. This procedure is typically performed daily for 7 consecutive days. Existing products are in the market Various Dhara therapies are well established in Ayurveda and are widely practiced for the management of different diseases affecting specific regions of the body. Shirodhara involves the continuous pouring of warm medicated oil, milk, or buttermilk over the forehead and is commonly used for stress, insomnia, headaches, and neurological disorders. Sarvangadhara (Pizhichil) consists of pouring warm medicated oil over the entire body (excluding the head) for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. Takradhara utilizes medicated buttermilk and is beneficial in managing skin diseases, stress-related disorders, and conditions associated with aggravated Pitta. Ksheeradhara employs medicated milk for its cooling, nourishing, and calming effects, while Tailadhara uses medicated oils for Vata disorders and pain management. Netra Dhara is specifically indicated for eye disorders using medicated herbal liquids, and Dhanyamla Dhara involves pouring warm fermented herbal liquid (Dhanyamla) over the body to alleviate inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions. Although these Ayurvedic Dhara therapies are effective for treating various parts of the body, they are performed either manually or with devices intended for general therapeutic applications and are not specifically designed for the plantar region or foot joints. At present, no dedicated Ayurvedic Yantra is available for delivering controlled Dhara therapy exclusively to the heel, sole, and foot joints with standardized temperature, flow rate, pressure, and duration. To address this unmet clinical need, the Parshni Dhara Yantra has been developed as a specialized device for administering controlled Dhara therapy to the plantar region, thereby improving precision, consistency, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness in the management of various foot disorders. While these therapies address various parts of the body, there is currently no specialized instrument (Yantra) designed specifically for the treatment of different ailments of the foot joints and plantar region—highlighting the unique contribution and necessity of the Parshni Dhara Yantra in Ayurvedic foot care. Our new product Parshni Dhara Yantra is a specialized Ayurvedic procedure in which comfortably warm medicated oil is continuously poured over the ankle region for a specific duration. This is done using a specially designed instrument known as the Parshni Dhara Yantra. The therapy combines the benefits of Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation), and is particularly effective in relieving pain, stiffness, and inflammation associated with various foot and ankle disorders. Uniqueness of Our product Parshni Dhara Yantra is a highly effective therapeutic device for the treatment of foot-related ailments, offering benefits that traditional methods such as manual pouring and massage of medicated oil cannot match. Conventional treatments often fail to maintain consistent temperature and pressure of the oil for the required duration, which limits the therapeutic absorption of the medicated oil over the affected area. In contrast, the Parshni Dhara Yantra ensures optimal outcomes due to several key advantages: • It utilizes a larger volume of medicated oil, which helps maintain consistent and adequate pressure over the treatment area. • The device covers a broader surface area of the foot, enhancing the efficiency of oil absorption. • Most importantly, it intelligently regulates and sustains the ideal temperature of the medicated oil throughout the procedure, ensuring that therapeutic heat is consistently applied for the entire duration of the treatment. These features make Parshni Dhara Yantra a superior choice in the management of various foot disorders in Ayurvedic practice.
