MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511025235 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi on March 20, 2025, for Axial Structured Illumination Phase Tomography.

Inventors include Khare, Kedar; and Goyal, Nishant.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The invention discloses a system (100) includes an illumination source (102) for generating axial structured illuminations which interacts with a 3D sample (104), an afocal imaging module (106), an objective lens (112), a tube lens, a reference wave source for generating a tilted plane wave, and a sensor array (110) to capture interference patterns generated on a plane (108). Further, the reconstruction methodology employs to estimate slice-by-slice tomographic refractive index reconstruction of 3D specimens non-invasively using limited number of axial structured illuminations compared to present holographic tomography systems which employ multi-angle illuminations. The system design can be retro-fitted with traditional digital holographic microscopes making this a cost-effective label-free tomography solution for life sciences research.
