Abstract: Disclosed is an axial-flux motor rotor assembly (100) comprising a rotor housing (102); a yoke (104) supported by the rotor housing; a holding plate (106) coupled to the rotor housing; and a plurality of permanent magnets (108), wherein the holding plate comprises an outer retaining portion (106A) and a plurality of ribs (106B) defining a plurality of drafted pockets (106C), each of the plurality of permanent magnets being received within a corresponding one of the plurality of drafted pockets, such that the holding plate supports the plurality of permanent magnets and mechanically restrains radially outward displacement of the plurality of permanent magnets during rotation of the axial-flux motor rotor assembly.
